Applied Scientists in AWS Science of Security are dedicated to making AWS the best computing service in the world for customers who require advanced and rigorous solutions for security, privacy, and sovereignty.

Key job responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Solve large or significantly complex problems that require deep knowledge and understanding of your domain and scientific innovation.

Own the design, implementation, and delivery for solutions that have a long-term quantifiable impact.

*Provide cross-organizational technical influence, increasing productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience.

Develop fundamentally new solutions for business problems.

Basic Qualifications

PhD or equivalent research experience

Experience in any of the following areas: mathematical logic, formal verification, satisfiability solving (SAT/SMT), mechanical theorem proving, model checking, or program analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Experience applying formal methods or automated reasoning to real-world software, security, or systems problems

Experience with proof assistants or verification languages such as Lean, Dafny, Isabelle, or Rocq

Experience programming in OCaml, Haskell, Rust, Scala, Kotlin, or a related language

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Amazon also offers comprehensive benefits including health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D insurance and option for Supplemental life plans, EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, Flexible Spending Accounts, Adoption and Surrogacy Reimbursement coverage), 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
