Responsibilities This Nurse Practitioner (Mental Health Intensive Case Management) position is in Mental Health services at the VA Central Western Massachusetts, located at the Springfield, MA CBOC. For more information, refer to Required Documents below This Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position serves as a Psychiatric Provider for Veterans experiencing Serious Mental Illness as part of the Mental Health Intensive Case Management (MHICM) program. The MHICM Nurse Practitioner provides services to a complex panel of Veterans in a variety of treatment settings, such as seeing Veterans in their homes or in clinic settings, and modalities including in person and virtual care. The MHICM Nurse Practitioner participates with the MHICM team of Registered Nurses and Social Workers with a focus providing comprehensive Veteran care. Duties include but are not limited to: Provides treatment for beneficiaries with complex psychiatric disorders in a variety of treatment settings, including home visits and in clinic settings. Works collaboratively as a part of the MHICM team Collaborates with providers in all areas of the system for the coordination of care Documents patient care in the Computerized Patient Record System (CPRS). Training regarding the use of CPRS along with all applicable expectations for content, timeliness and other standards will be provided by the VAMC. Qualifications Advanced Practice Nurse (Nurse Practitioner) Basic Requirements Education: A post-master's certificate or master's or doctoral degree as a Nurse Practitioner. (Applicants pending the completion of educational requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until the education requirements are met.) Must be a graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant: The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). NOTE: Foreign Education. Graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing programs, the nurse practitioner degree equivalency must be validated through an Agency recognized degree equivalency evaluation agency, such as the International Consultants of Delaware (ICD). Candidates with equivalent nurse practitioner masters or doctorate level degrees who possess current, full, active, and unrestricted registration and certification will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing to warrant appointment. License - All APN (NPs) must possess and maintain an active, current, full, and unrestricted APN license to practice as an NP in a State, Territory or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
