D.R. Horton, Inc.is currently looking for an Insurance Account Specialistin ourRisk Management Department. TheCorporate Insurance Analystwill coordinate the management of insurance policies, and broadly support the management, review, analysis, procurement, and administration of corporate insurance policies and claims for a large, decentralized organization with significant residential construction operations. This position requires the ability to manage and track insurance policies, placements, renewals, and claims, backed by a strong working knowledge of commercial insurance coverage, policy structure, endorsements, exclusions, deductibles, self-insured retentions, claims-made and occurrence-based coverage, and the practical application of insurance programs to construction-related risks. The Analyst will support management of several different insurance policies at both enterprise and project-specific levels, including insurance marketing, procurement/placement, renewal strategy, policy analysis, coverage tracking, broker and carrier coordination, and internal advisory support.
We are looking for someone to develop and exhibit ownership of critical components of our insurance process, including the ability to understand and improve processes by leveraging data analytics, maintaining effective communication, and identifying efficiency opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilitiesinclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Review, organize, and maintain corporate insurance policies, certificates, binders, endorsements, schedules, and related coverage documentation
Track all policy renewal timelines and processes, provide periodic reporting, complete coverage applications, and otherwise drive the marketing and renewal of insurance policies
Analyze policy terms, conditions, exclusions, limits, deductibles, self-insured retentions, and coverage requirements for enterprise operational and project-specific risks
Obtain certificates of insurance on an as-needed basis to demonstrate compliance with contractual requirements
Support internal stakeholders looking to assess/procure insurance coverage by gathering and updating required data, collecting exposure data and underwriting information, connecting with brokers, evaluating coverage options, and procuring coverage. Such support includes evaluating and communicating applicable coverage, policy requirements, and insurance-related obligations to internal partners, and liaising with different brokers.
Track renewal timelines, open items, premium allocations, policy changes, audits, and carrier/broker deliverables
Help define process and system requirements related to management of claims and policies
Conduct all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and advance corporate strategic goals
Maintain accurate policy, exposure, premium, certificate, and coverage data in RMIS, policy management tools, spreadsheets, and shared repositories
Develop and maintain summaries of insurance programs, coverage matrices, renewal trackers, policy schedules, and internal reference materials
Assist with data validation, policy audits, exposure analysis, and reporting for leadership, Finance, Legal, Operations, and other stakeholders
Identify opportunities to improve policy documentation, workflows, system controls, and information accessibility
Provide policy and coverage support for claims, incident reviews, contract questions, vendor/subcontractor insurance requirements, and internal business initiatives
Education and/or Experience
College degree preferred
Insurance license(s), designation(s), or coursework such as CPCU, ARM, CRIS, CRM, AINS, or similar credentials are preferred
At least 6-8 years of relevant experience in corporate risk management, insurance brokerage, underwriting, claims, construction risk, policy administration, or a related insurance role
Experience with commercial insurance policies, coverage analysis, renewals, broker/carrier coordination, and policy documentation required
Experience in construction, residential construction, homebuilding, real estate development, subcontractor risk, OCIPs, CCIPs, wrap-up programs, or project-specific insurance strongly preferred
Familiarity with captives, self-insured programs, large deductible programs, SIRs, alternative risk financing, actuarial inputs, or loss-sensitive insurance structures is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Highly organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines, renewals, projects, and stakeholder requests
Strong technical understanding of commercial insurance coverage, self-insurance alternatives, policy language, endorsements, exclusions, limits, deductibles, and retentions
Ability to review and summarize complex insurance policies and translate coverage concepts for non-insurance stakeholders
Knowledge of construction-related coverage issues, including general liability, completed operations, builder's risk, pollution/environmental, professional liability, auto, workers' compensation, excess liability, and subcontractor insurance requirements
Analytical mindset with ability to work with exposure data, loss information, premium data, policy schedules, and renewal submissions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and policy/RMIS or document management systems
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively with brokers, carriers, TPAs, attorneys, finance teams, operations teams, and senior stakeholders
