Summary
The Manager, Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for the daily oversight of manufacturing engineering operations, ensuring that production processes meet Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC) standards. This role supervises a team of engineers, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborates cross-functionally to maintain and enhance production efficiency. The Manager executes process improvements and engineering changes while keeping both customer requirements and employee well-being as top priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Cross-Functional Communication & Sustaining Engineering
Maintain effective communication channels across the organization to ensure consistent sustaining engineering support for Gilbarco products.
Interface regularly with the New Product Development, Engineering Change Management, and Sustaining Engineering teams to facilitate accurate and seamless product launches and production integration.
Problem Solving & Countermeasures
Ensure that effective immediate countermeasures are identified and implemented as needed in response to production issues.
Apply structured problem-solving methodologies to conduct root cause analysis and drive lasting corrective actions.
Manufacturing Operations Support
Lead the Manufacturing Engineering team in meeting operational goals related to Safety, Quality, and Delivery.
Provide engineering leadership by demonstrating issue resolution ownership, sound decision-making, and independent critical thinking.
Subject Matter Expertise & Compliance
Serve as a subject matter resource through the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure that both customer and regulatory requirements are consistently met.
Ensure that appropriate controls are in place to support environmental compliance obligations and operational sustainability.
Process & Product Improvement
Identify and prioritize product design and manufacturing process improvement projects with a focus on enhancing Safety, Quality, and Delivery outcomes.
Ensure production support through the sustainment and improvement of processes, equipment, tooling, and fixturing, leveraging lean tools and methodologies.
Background & Skills
Education
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or Business Management (required).
Experience
Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive engineering experience, with exposure to product development, process engineering, manufacturing quality, and process improvement (required).
Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead capacity within a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
Technical Skills
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (required).
Hands-on experience with Pro-E/Creo, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD platforms (preferred).
Working knowledge of VAVE (Value Analysis/Value Engineering), DFM/DFA (Design for Manufacturability/Assembly), and FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) methodologies (a plus).
