Job Description
The 1st Shift Facilities Maintenance Janitor supports day-to-day building operations by performing general facilities maintenance, basic repairs, and janitorial tasks in a clean, climate-controlled industrial environment. This role ensures that shop utilities, equipment, and common areas remain safe, functional, and well maintained while contributing to a highly safety-conscious workplace.
Responsibilities
Assist with general building and equipment maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operations.
Maintain shop utilities and equipment, including air compressors, lighting, overhead doors, and other building systems.
Perform basic repairs, painting, and preventive maintenance as assigned.
Support equipment, material, and furniture moves within the facility.
Install new equipment as needed, following safety and operational guidelines.
Clean restrooms, lunchrooms, shop floors, and common areas to maintain a neat and orderly facility.
Empty trash, restock supplies, and maintain overall cleanliness throughout the building.
Maintain grounds, including snow removal, lawn care, and general litter cleanup.
Operate cleaning equipment and basic hand and power tools safely and correctly.
Report maintenance issues, equipment concerns, and safety hazards promptly to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 2 years of general or facilities maintenance and mechanical work experience.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to perform mechanical tasks.
Experience performing janitorial duties, including cleaning and sanitation of restrooms, lunchrooms, shop floors, and common areas.
Ability to perform snow removal, lawn care, trash cleanup, and general grounds maintenance.
Skilled in using hand and power tools safely and effectively.
Experience with industrial or building maintenance tasks such as basic repairs, painting, and preventive maintenance.
Ability to operate cleaning equipment and basic maintenance tools in a safe manner.
Capability to assist with equipment moves and new equipment installations.
Strong attention to safety, with the ability to recognize and report maintenance issues and safety hazards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
experience industrial maintenance or service work is beneficial.
Experience with troubleshooting basic building or equipment issues.
Familiarity with plumbing tasks is an advantage.
Exposure to HVAC systems or building climate control is helpful.
Experience in building maintenance and facilities maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Comfort working in a precision metal fabrication environment supporting HVAC, roofing, and window-related products.

Team members use cleaning equipment, hand tools, and power tools regularly while performing building and grounds maintenance. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
