Job Description
We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Assembler / Kitter to join a fast-paced manufacturing team. In this role, you prepare production kits, operate wire processing equipment, and support mechanical and electrical assembly to ensure high-quality products are built efficiently and accurately. Responsibilities
Gather and kit components required for assembly jobs according to work orders and production schedules.
Operate wire cutting and wire processing equipment to prepare materials for production.
Assemble components and subassemblies using hand and power tools, following schematics, blueprints, and work instructions where applicable.
Perform mechanical and electrical assembly tasks, including wiring harnesses, panel wiring, and component assembly as needed.
Inspect parts, subassemblies, and completed assemblies to verify quality, accuracy, and conformance to specifications.
Use tape measures and other basic measuring tools to confirm proper dimensions and fit during assembly.
Support general production activities, including machine operation, assembly line work, packaging, and light general labor tasks.
Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area, following all safety guidelines and using required personal protective equipment.
Assist with inventory, material movement, and general production support to keep workflows running smoothly.
Collaborate with team members in manufacturing, shipping/receiving, assembly, and testing areas to meet production goals and deadlines.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of assembly experience within a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience using hand tools in a production or assembly setting.
Ability to operate basic production and assembly equipment, including wire cutting and processing machines.
Comfort working with hand and power tools for mechanical and electrical assembly tasks.
Ability to read and follow work orders, production schedules, and basic instructions.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality, accuracy, and proper documentation.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented production environment.
Basic measurement skills using tape measures and other simple measuring tools.
Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work the scheduled shift and overtime as needed.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Blueprint reading experience is a plus and helpful for more complex assembly work.
Experience with wire assembly, wiring harnesses, panel wiring, or electrical assembly is a plus.
Familiarity with general production, machine operation, and assembly line processes.
Ability to work across different areas such as manufacturing, shipping/receiving, assembly, and testing.
Comfort working in a diverse, multilingual environment with coworkers who speak English, Vietnamese, and Spanish.

Work Environment
This role is based in a large, temperature-controlled facility that includes manufacturing, shipping/receiving, assembly, and testing areas, and you may work in any of these sections depending on production needs. The standard shift runs from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with potential overtime on Friday. The position starts on a contract basis through at least January, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a direct role depending on business needs. The dress code is casual, allowing jeans and an appropriate t-shirt, with safety glasses (with side shields) and hearing protection provided on-site; steel-toed boots are required. The environment is diverse and collaborative, with languages spoken on the line including English, Vietnamese, and Spanish, and a strong emphasis on safety, teamwork, and efficient production

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grimes, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
