Job Title: Lease AccountantJob Description
This role is responsible for lease classification, right-of-use asset and liability calculations, and ongoing lease administration. It includes general ledger reconciliations and support for audits and month-end close activities.
Responsibilities
Classify leases and calculate right-of-use assets and liabilities.
Administer ongoing lease management for approximately 1,200 active leases.
Prepare journal entries and complete general ledger reconciliations.
Support month-end close processes and troubleshoot accounting discrepancies.
Engage with fleet, real estate, operations, accounting, acquired businesses, and external real estate partners.
Review and abstract lease agreements, maintaining accurate lease records.
Prepare monthly journal entries and reconcile lease-related accounts.
Support corporate cash entries, loan procedures, audits, acquisitions, and general accounting activities.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field strongly preferred.
1-5 years of general accounting experience preferred.
Experience preparing journal entries and completing account reconciliations.
Familiarity with operating and finance leases and lease accounting principles.
Ability to discuss lease accounting fundamentals and learn ASC 842 concepts.
Experience reading or working with commercial lease agreements.
Strong Excel skills for organizing, filtering, reconciling, and troubleshooting large data sets.
Experience with ERP or corporate accounting software.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Direct ownership of a large lease portfolio is preferred but not required.
Experience with CoStar, NetLease, LeaseQuery, Visual Lease, or similar platforms is a plus.
Direct ASC 842 experience preferred but not required at an expert level.
Strong attention to detail and comfort with recurring, transaction-heavy work.
Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting and non-accounting stakeholders.
Experience with acquisition integration or onboarding leases from newly acquired businesses is a plus.
Work Environment
The position is based in an on-site corporate accounting environment in Greenville, South Carolina. The team frequently collaborates in real time due to the pace and volume of activity, interfacing regularly with fleet, real estate, operations, divisional contacts, shared services, and external real estate partners. This role provides an opportunity for collaborative work within a close-knit corporate accounting team, with potential for progression from Staff Accountant to Senior Accountant over time.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
