Description

We are looking for a Bookkeeper to support day-to-day accounting operations for a company based in New Hyde Park, New York. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who is highly proficient in QuickBooks Online and comfortable managing both payables and receivables with accuracy and consistency. The role also includes general administrative support and offers the opportunity to strengthen accounting workflows through practical process improvements.

Responsibilities:

Oversee the accounts payable process from invoice review through final payment, ensuring transactions are accurate, approved, and properly recorded in QuickBooks Online.

Reconcile supplier invoices with purchase documentation, coordinate payment methods such as wire transfers, checks, and credit cards, and address vendor credits or returns as needed.

Manage customer invoicing and maintain organized records of receivables to support timely and accurate billing activity.

Monitor bank activity on a daily basis, apply incoming payments correctly, and update accounting records across relevant systems and platforms.

Follow up on outstanding balances and support collection efforts in a thorough and organized manner to help maintain healthy cash flow.

Identify opportunities to improve accounts receivable and accounts payable procedures by introducing more structured and efficient accounting practices.

Provide general office and administrative assistance that supports smooth daily business operations.

Maintain complete, current financial records and help ensure accounting information is accessible, organized, and reliable.

Requirements - Strong hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online in a bookkeeping or accounting support capacity.

Demonstrated knowledge of full-cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.

Ability to process financial transactions accurately and manage multiple payment methods and billing platforms.

Experience monitoring bank activity, posting cash receipts, and reconciling payment information.

Solid organizational skills with close attention to detail and recordkeeping accuracy.

Comfortable handling collections follow-up and communicating professionally regarding account status.

Ability to contribute process improvement ideas based on sound AR/AP practices.

Prior experience providing administrative or office support in a business environment.
