Project Overview:
Bechtel's Manufacturing & Technology (M&T) Business Unit is designing and building an Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) Manufacturing Facility located at Generation Park in Houston, TX. M&T is an exciting and growing business unit that serves customers in the semiconductor, datacenter, life sciences, and electric vehicle markets. Job Summary:
In this role, you will participate in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project expediting operations. You will distribute workload, monitor assignments, evaluate production schedules and progress, and develop procedures. You will contact suppliers, initiate follow-up, monitor quality, and prepare supplier evaluations. Your planning and problem solving will ensure expediting operations meet project needs.
Major Responsibilities:
Participates in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project and area expediting operations for small sized projects
Distributes workload to assigned project expeditors according to the experience and ability of the expeditor, the degree of complexity of the work and the urgency of the need for action
Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data, and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment
Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if suppliers' programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements
Coordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expeditors and construction to establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates and instructs suppliers accordingly
Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval, and return of engineering data submitted by suppliers
Participates in pre- and post-award meetings to review and discuss schedules and potential problem areas that may impact required shipment dates
Coordinates shipping arrangements or tracking requests with the project Logistics representative
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Strong knowledge of procurement and supply chain processes, including supplier performance monitoring, production schedules, engineering data requirements, and material delivery tracking to support project execution.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective supplier relationships, proactively identify schedule risks, and drive timely resolution of material, documentation, and shipment delays.
Experience coordinating with engineering, purchasing, logistics, construction, and project controls teams to establish priorities, manage critical items, and ensure materials and equipment are delivered in accordance with project schedules.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to interpret production progress reports, maintain accurate expediting records, generate status reports, and provide early warning of supplier deficiencies or schedule slippage.
Nice to Have:
Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities such as: Bulk API, sterile products, secondary packaging, devices, and lab projects.Deep understanding of cGMP regulations, and excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Experience in the following areas: GMP manufacturing, LEAN, automation, construction, construction quality, CQV (commissioning, qualification, and validation), project controls, the engineering disciplines, safety, and schedulingAbility to lead and coordinate cross-functional teams (Owners, Architects, Engineers, QA/Validation, Contractors) in regulated @contexts.
Certifications or hands-on experience in CQV; CSV awareness; familiarity with FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and related regulatory frameworks.Demonstrated success delivering complex, multi-site projects in validated environments (GMP/GLP/ISO 17025) within labs, biopharma, pharmaceutical manufacturing, medical devices, healthcare, or related sectors.Specific experience delivering validated environments: GMP/GLP labs, ISO 14644 cleanrooms, ISO 17025 laboratories, or similar.
