Job Title: Process Technician
Job Description
This Process Technician role focuses on supporting injection molding operations by setting up, monitoring, and troubleshooting molding equipment to ensure consistent product quality and adherence to specifications. The position requires strong technical aptitude, hands-on experience with injection molding machines and peripherals, and the ability to document and communicate technical information clearly. The technician will work closely with other technicians and leadership to investigate non-conformities, implement corrective actions, and maintain efficient production schedules.
Responsibilities
Communicate clearly with supervisors and fellow technicians and document all technical information, issues, and actions taken.
Monitor equipment operations continuously to ensure that product quality meets established specifications and standards.
Participate in product and equipment investigations and support the reporting and investigation of non-conformities using CAPA and Root Cause Analysis methodologies.
Troubleshoot equipment and process issues and respond promptly by performing effective corrective technical solutions.
Perform startups and complete set-up of molds for all mold changes, ensuring proper installation and alignment.
Assist as needed in the maintenance and repair of molding machines, molds, and peripheral equipment.
Monitor production schedules and objectives and adjust equipment or processes as necessary to meet production goals.
Implement and fine-tune peripherals such as 6-axis robotics, grinders, and other automation equipment to optimize performance.
Read and interpret blueprints and use precision measuring and inspection tools to verify parts and processes meet requirements.
Operate cranes safely to handle molds and related equipment during installation, removal, and maintenance activities.
Maintain accurate documentation of process parameters, equipment changes, investigations, and corrective actions.
Collaborate with team members to support continuous improvement efforts in quality, safety, and productivity.
Essential Skills
2-3 years of experience in injection molding, including machine adjustment, troubleshooting, and mold installation and removal.
Technical schooling, certification, degree, or equivalent related experience in a relevant technical field.
Hands-on experience with injection molding machines and manufacturing equipment.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and automation-related issues on production equipment.
General knowledge of plastic materials and plastic manufacturing processes.
Ability to implement and tune peripherals such as 6-axis robotics, grinders, and related automation equipment.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
Proficiency in using precision measuring and inspection tools.
Ability to operate a crane safely for mold handling and equipment movement.
Good mathematical aptitude to support process calculations and measurements.
Strong mechanical aptitude to understand and adjust complex machinery.
Good documentation skills to record technical data, investigations, and process changes.
Strong verbal communication skills to interact effectively with supervisors and team members.
Strong written communication skills for clear reporting and documentation.
Experience working with cleanroom, assembly, robotics, and automation environments as related to manufacturing.
Knowledge of CAPA (Corrective and Preventive Action) and Root Cause Analysis for addressing non-conformities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline.
Experience with cleanroom operations and assembly processes in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with robotics and automation systems, particularly in injection molding applications.
Comfort working with both electrical and mechanical systems in manufacturing equipment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of technicians and technical leadership.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high quality standards.
Work Environment
The Process Technician will work as part of a small team of approximately four to five colleagues within the department, collaborating closely to support continuous production. The role reports into the technical leadership structure. The position operates on two primary 12-hour shifts with flexibility required for either the A or C shift. One shift runs Monday through Wednesday and every other Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and the other shift runs Friday through Sunday and every other Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. The environment involves working around injection molding machines, molds, peripherals such as 6-axis robotics and grinders, and other automation and manufacturing equipment. The setting may include cleanroom and assembly operations, requiring adherence to established procedures and safety practices. The dress code includes jeans, closed-toe shoes, and a long-sleeve top appropriate for a production and equipment-focused environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Congers, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $45.00/hr.
