? Electrical Technician / Production Assembler

You'll work on a clean production floor building electrical components, wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and control panels. If you like hands-on work, learning new skills, and being part of a team that builds high-quality products, this is a great long-term opportunity. No previous IPC certifications required for Level I-training is provided.
? What You'll Do
Build assemblies - Put together electrical components, wire harnesses, cables, and panels using hand tools and shop equipment.
Solder & crimp - Learn or apply soldering, wire termination, crimping, and routing techniques.
Follow drawings - Work from drawings, work instructions, and BOMs to complete builds accurately.
Inspect your work - Check assemblies for quality, labeling, and workmanship before moving them forward.
Keep records - Make simple traveler entries and document completed work.
Use tools safely - Operate soldering irons, crimpers, cutters, and basic shop tools.
Stay organized - Maintain a clean, safe, production-ready workstation.
Support improvements - Share ideas when instructions or processes need updates.
Assist panel builds - Install electrical parts and hardware for industrial control panel projects.
?? Three Levels of Growth (Training Provided)
Level I - Assembly Trainee
Learn soldering, harness building, and panel assembly with hands-on mentoring.
Complete IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 certifications during onboarding (company supported).
Follow instructions closely and ask questions as you learn.
Level II - Production Assembler
Build standard assemblies independently from drawings and work instructions.
Hold active IPC J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 certifications; add IPC/WHMA-A-620 for harness work.
Inspect your own work and help Level I trainees when needed.
Level III - Advanced Production Assembler
Build complex, high-mix, first-article, and proto@type assemblies.
Maintain full CIS certification across all IPC standards.
Set the workmanship standard and help identify recurring defects.
Eligible for Siemens SMSCP Level 1 (Lead Track).

?? Work Environment
You'll work in a clean, organized production shop focused on repeatable builds, quality, and safety. Work includes bench assembly, wire harnessing, cable routing, and panel assembly using hand tools, soldering equipment, crimpers, and fixtures. The environment follows 5S, PPE, and ESD standards and supports steady, predictable production work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
