Job Description
The Accounting Specialist reviews open accounts for collection efforts, manages accounts receivable activities, and supports customer account setup and maintenance. This role focuses on making professional collection calls, resolving billing issues, and ensuring accurate financial and customer records. The position offers a strong opportunity to gain experience in a large, well-established corporate environment, with potential for future extension or conversion depending on business needs.
Responsibilities
Review open customer accounts and initiate collection efforts in a timely and organized manner.
Make collection calls in a professional and courteous manner while maintaining positive and constructive customer relationships.
Proactively identify and resolve client billing issues and accounts receivable delinquencies to reduce outstanding balances.
Analyze and identify root causes of account delinquencies and communicate findings and recommendations to management.
Negotiate payment plans and settlement agreements within established company guidelines and policies.
Recommend accounts for escalation, legal action, or write-off when appropriate and in accordance with company procedures.
Meet or exceed quarterly collection and aging targets by consistently following up and managing assigned accounts.
Maintain accurate, detailed, and up-to-date records of all collection activities, communications, and account statuses.
Assist with customer account setup and maintenance, including entering and updating customer information in Salesforce.
Screen new and existing customers, manage customer
Essential Skills
Strong capability to learn new systems, processes, and tools, including Salesforce.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Persistence and comfort with regular follow-up on outstanding accounts.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to understand and follow established accounting processes and company policies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance, or 2 years of relevant experience.
Experience working with Salesforce or similar customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Experience in a corporate or large organizational environment.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and address root causes of delinquencies.
Work Environment
This role is based at a corporate headquarters and follows a hybrid schedule with three days per week in the office. Standard working hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The environment is professional and office-based, with regular use of accounting systems, Salesforce, and productivity tools such as Microsoft Excel. The position provides exposure to a large, complex organization and offers a structured, policy-driven setting where accuracy, consistency, and adherence to established processes are highly valued.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $27.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
