The Accounting Manager provides financial leadership across a multi-entity organization, overseeing all aspects of financial reporting, complex intercompany accounting, fixed asset and project accounting, and process optimization. This role leads the close process, ensures compliance with U.S. GAAP, and supports strategic decision-making by analyzing financial results and developing key performance indicators. The Accounting Manager also mentors a growing accounting team, partners closely with operational and project leaders, and plays a visible role in driving company growth within the renewable energy sector.
Responsibilities
Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules for multiple operating entities and joint ventures.
Analyze financial results and provide clear recommendations to leadership on business performance and operational improvements.
Develop, monitor, and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) to support strategic decision-making.
Ensure full compliance with U.S. GAAP and established corporate accounting policies.
Manage accounting activities across 14 operating entities and joint ventures, maintaining consistency and accuracy.
Oversee complex intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations across multiple ownership structures and business units.
Support consolidation processes and meet internal and external reporting requirements.
Oversee accounting for large-scale capital projects exceeding $40M, including construction-in-progress assets.
Evaluate capitalization policies and accounting treatment under ASC 360, ensuring appropriate classification and recognition.
Partner with operational and project teams to ensure accurate tracking of construction costs and capital expenditures.
Monitor fixed asset activity, including additions, disposals, and depreciation schedules, to maintain accurate asset records.
Lead, coach, and develop a team of two Staff Accountants, providing guidance, feedback, and support.
Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth within the finance team.
Support hiring, training, and process development as the finance organization expands.
Identify opportunities to automate and streamline accounting processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Utilize advanced Excel capabilities to enhance financial reporting, analysis, and modeling.
Partner with leadership on technology initiatives, including AI-driven efficiencies and workflow automation.
Support ongoing optimization of NetSuite and other financial reporting tools to improve data integrity and usability.
Collaborate closely with executive leadership, providing insights and participating in strategic discussions that influence company growth.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required; CMA will also be strongly considered.
6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
Demonstrated experience managing accounting within a multi-entity environment.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Hands-on experience leading or mentoring accounting staff.
Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas, data analysis, and reporting.
Ability to think and operate strategically while remaining highly detail-oriented.
Experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, and intercompany accounting processes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Industry experience in Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), energy, utilities, infrastructure, construction, manufacturing, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of ASC 360 and fixed asset accounting principles.
Experience accounting for large capital projects and construction-in-progress assets.
Experience working with NetSuite ERP.
Exposure to AI tools, automation initiatives, or process optimization projects.
Interest in contributing to one of the fastest-growing segments of the renewable energy industry.
Ability to communicate effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teams.
Comfort with high-visibility responsibilities and influencing company growth.
Work Environment
This role is based in a hybrid work environment, with four days per week in the office and Fridays remote. The Accounting Manager collaborates closely with the finance and executive teams and reports into senior leadership. The organization is in a high-growth phase, providing a clear advancement path to a Controller role and direct exposure to strategic decision-making. The work involves regular use of NetSuite ERP, advanced Excel, and modern financial reporting tools, as well as participation in technology initiatives focused on AI-driven efficiencies and workflow automation. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
