Responsibilities Exercises responsibility for the overall supervision of a group of retail facilities and supervises estimated annual sales volume through subordinate managers. Develops, implements and provides accountability for programs, sales, payroll, profit and achieving long range goals. Duties may include budgeting, financial and accounting responsibilities, program requirements, patron and employee relations, assignments and training of employees, maintenance and continuous evaluation of programs and facilities for possible expansion and improvement. Develops programs concerning retail goods and services consistent with the needs and desires of the patron community. Keeps abreast of changes/trends in the retail industry, making studies and surveys of local establishments engaged in similar activities to determine customer preferences. Recommends and implements new ideas, procedures or amendments that will improve service to Exchange patrons. Reviews and interprets regulations, instructions, notices and operating directives received from higher authority, to determine effect on functions for assigned activities. Reviews reports and audit summaries prepared by subordinate staff members or Internal Review related to improving administration or correcting deficiencies. Assists in advertising promotional events. Prepares and justifies statistical data relevant to sales results, best selling items, growth classification, productivity per square foot, budgetary operating costs and maintenance; including current expenditures and estimates of future costs based on specific activities to be maintained, modified, added or deleted. May evaluate need for maintenance requirements and initiates work request for accomplishment of repair or renovation. May work directly with buyers to plan, grow, change, develop and influence product assortments carried in assigned retail facilities. Responsible for ensuring timely, attractive displays and setting the highest merchandising standards. Maintains responsibility for the receipt, safekeeping, deposit, disbursement and accountability of funds for assigned activities. Compiles and submits accounting data for receipts and expenditures, utilizing purchase orders, expenditure vouchers, requisitions, daily activity reports and established cash handling procedures, assuring the propriety and accuracy of data and internal controls. Responsibility includes security of retail inventory through effective shrinkage control measured through year-end results. Performs supervisory functions typical of a first level supervisor. Prepares work schedules and makes work assignments; distributes workload; evaluates work performance; trains employees; establishes leave schedules; initiates personnel and disciplinary actions. Skill to perform budgeting, financial and accounting duties to monitor and guide retail selling program requirements and evaluation of sales, profit and payroll. Knowledge of retail selling and promotion to monitor statistical data on sales results, best selling items, growth classification and productivity per square foot. Skill to supervise employees in the accomplishment of work. This is a white-collar position where occasional lifting up to 20 lbs may be required.
