Senior Accountant / Interim ControllerOverview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Interim Controller to lead accounting cleanup initiatives, strengthen financial reporting processes, and support ERP implementation efforts. This role will be responsible for reconciling financial records, improving internal controls, ensuring accurate reporting, and preparing the organization for a successful system migration.
Key Responsibilities
Review and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts
Identify and resolve historical accounting discrepancies and unreconciled balances
Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Prepare and review financial statements and management reports
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Improve accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting procedures
Prepare and validate financial data for ERP migration
Serve as the accounting lead during ERP implementation
Collaborate with leadership, IT, and external implementation partners
Develop documentation, workflows, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
Ensure compliance with GAAP and support external audits
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Strong general ledger, journal entry, and account reconciliation experience
Experience managing month-end close and financial reporting
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP)
Experience working with ERP systems
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Knowledge of GAAP and internal controls
Preferred Experience
ERP implementation or system migration experience
Financial data cleanup and complex account reconciliations
Process improvement and internal control enhancement
Creating accounting procedures, documentation, and workflows
Experience partnering with IT teams and cross-functional stakeholders
Work Environment
Professional office environment with a strong focus on financial accuracy, process improvement, and ERP modernization. This role works closely with leadership, IT teams, and external partners to support accounting operations and organizational growth.

This is a Contract position based out of Wahpeton, ND.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
