The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Management and Finance has a vacancy.
The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality's (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare.
Lead DEQ's most critical financial operations as the agency's senior accounting authority-overseeing multimillion-dollar cash and fund management, federal grant compliance, statewide reporting, and high-risk fiscal decision-making that directly supports Louisiana's environmental mission.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the supervisory level or above:
Eight years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree with twenty-four semester hours in accounting plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, or statistics plus five years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
An advanced degree in accounting, finance, business administration, management, economics, quantitative methods, or statistics plus four years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking; OR
Possession of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license plus three years of experience in accounting, auditing, financial operations, payroll, or banking.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
Directs major accounting operations for DEQ, including cash and fund management, grant accounting, budgeting,reporting, contracts, procurement, and accounts payable.
Supervises professional accountants and section managers, assigning work, reviewing performance, and ensuringtimely, accurate fiscal operations.
Oversees federal grant management, including SEFA preparation, grant applications, amendments, drawdowns,and audit readiness.
Leads cash and fund projections for approximately $160 million in departmental funding, providing criticalfinancial guidance to executive leadership.
Represents DEQ in high-level financial discussions with OPB, LFO, State Treasurer, OSRAP, and federal agencies;prepares and presents complex financial analyses.
