Job Title: Superintendent of Construction
Job Description
This role is for a Federal Lead Superintendent responsible for overseeing large, ground-up federal construction projects from initial site development through full mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and interior buildout. The position focuses on complex projects in the $30M-$40M+ range, including work with the Army Corps of Engineers, and requires demonstrated expertise in federal construction standards, safety compliance, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and project closeout on federally regulated construction sites.
Responsibilities
Lead large federal ground-up construction projects as the primary superintendent, ensuring full lifecycle execution from site development and grading through MEP installation and interior buildout.
Plan, organize, and manage day-to-day field operations on federally regulated projects, maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
Implement and enforce federal construction standards and OSHA requirements, leading site safety programs and ensuring compliance with project-specific safety plans.
Develop, maintain, and control detailed project schedules using Primavera P6, including baseline creation, subcontractor schedule integration, three-week lookahead planning, and schedule updates for multi-phase projects.
Coordinate all subcontractors on site, ensuring clear communication of expectations, sequencing of work, and resolution of field issues to keep the project on track.
Oversee quality control benchmarking and inspection management, ensuring all work meets federal specifications, contract requirements, and applicable codes.
Manage documentation control and project records using Procore, Bluebeam Revu, Timberline, Excel, Word, and SharePoint to maintain accurate logs, reports, and correspondence.
Plan and manage site logistics, including material deliveries, laydown areas, equipment placement, and workforce flow, to maximize efficiency and minimize disruptions.
Coordinate utilities and site improvements, including utility tie-ins, site amendments, and grading activities, in alignment with project design and regulatory requirements.
Validate cost progress and support cost tracking by reviewing work in place, quantities, and production rates against schedule and budget expectations.
Lead project closeout activities, including punch list completion, documentation and warranty turnover, and support for owner training and handover processes.
Ensure airfield paving activities are planned, executed, and inspected in accordance with federal and project-specific standards where applicable.
Communicate effectively with project stakeholders, including owners, design teams, and subcontractors, providing regular updates on safety, schedule, quality, and progress.
Support long-term project planning and potential transition to follow-up federal projects in other locations upon successful completion of current work.
Essential Skills
Minimum of one $30M-$40M ground-up federal construction project completed as a Lead Superintendent, with multiple similar projects strongly preferred.
Experience on at least a couple of projects with the Army Corps of Engineers.
Approximately 3-5 years of experience in federal construction as a lead superintendent, including utility, site amendment, and grading expertise.
Demonstrated expertise in federal construction standards and OSHA compliance, with proven ability to lead and enforce site safety programs.
Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling, including baseline development, subcontractor integration, three-week lookahead planning, and schedule control for complex, multi-phase projects.
Strong technical capability in subcontractor management and coordination on large federal projects.
Proficiency with Procore for project management and documentation.
Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu for drawing review, markups, and document coordination.
Proficiency with Timberline for construction cost and project controls.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word for reporting, logs, and documentation.
Proficiency with SharePoint for document storage, collaboration, and version control.
Solid communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey expectations and project requirements to subcontractors and stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities, priorities, and deadlines on complex federal projects.
Airfield paving experience on federal or similarly regulated projects.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
RMS (Resident Management System) experience is a plus.
Experience with general contractors on large-scale federal construction projects is beneficial.
Experience managing quality control benchmarking and inspection processes on federal jobs.
Experience validating cost progress and supporting project cost tracking.
Experience with owner turnover and project closeout processes on federally regulated projects.
Ability to work effectively on long-term assignments with potential follow-up opportunities at additional federal project locations.
Work Environment
This position supports a large-scale federal construction project, including a $54M project on a military base, with complex, multi-phase work and strict compliance requirements. The environment is field-focused, with the Superintendent spending most of the time on site coordinating crews, subcontractors, and inspections. Technologies and software used include Primavera P6 for scheduling, Procore for project management, Bluebeam Revu for document review, Timberline for cost and project controls, and Microsoft Excel, Word, and SharePoint for documentation and collaboration. The role offers weekly pay and paid travel days (Monday and Friday) every four weeks without requiring the use of paid time off, along with lodging and meals and incidentals provided on a monthly equivalent basis, plus a truck and gas card. The opportunity is long-term, with a strong likelihood of follow-up work or transfer to other federal projects in locations such as Cheyenne, Colorado Springs, North and South Dakota, or Texas. The work setting is professional, safety-focused, and highly regulated, requiring adherence to federal standards and site-specific protocols.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $140000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
