Overview
Bowhead is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Advanced Hypersonic Weapons & Guided Munitions Division (E20) to support software development of Naval gun weapons systems in Dahlgren, VA.
Responsibilities
Develop and design data analysis scripts in MATLAB or Python, as well as methods and tools to review and analyze data from various testing efforts
Design and develop analysis material, root cause analysis, analyzing data as well and preparing visual reports to include two- and three-dimensional plots, and presenting the findings of the analysis to help in proving system methods, capabilities and readiness of the system
Testing and operating distributed systems during internal Verification and Validation sprints and/or field testing
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in an engineering, scientific or technical discipline and two (2)+ years of experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
Must be competent in the development of MATLAB or Python scripts to process large amount of structured data files as well as processing the data files.
Testing and evaluation experience.
Ability to communicate with all levels of team members on the project.
Ability to work independently and interface professionally with other government agencies, contractors, military personnel.
Ability to define task details, estimates, and schedules using Microsoft Office products (e.g., Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Word.)
Must have at least an interim Secret security clearance.
Desired Skills:
Experience with Hyper Velocity Weapons preferred.
Familiarity with research and development projects a plus.
Experience related to gun weapon systems and/or Army/Navy programs.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
Targeted salary range is $75,000 to $100,000 annually based on qualifications and experience.
