About the unit
Big Rapids Campus has a 22 bed medical surgical unit and a 4 bed critical care unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population in Big Rapids is very diverse, it consists of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. Big Rapids has a well-established team that works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse techs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care for our patients
About the Unit Reed City Campus has a 10 bed medical surgical unit. This campus is the perfect place to gain experience as a new nurse and grow your career! The patient population in Reed City is very diverse, it consists of primarily hospitalist medicine patients with a wide variety of diagnosis, some of which include: pneumonia, COPD, cellulitis, kidney failure, and bowel obstructions. These diagnoses provide the opportunity to develop acute care skills such as IV placement, chest tubes and NG placement/management. Reed City has a well-established team that works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team that includes hospitalists, care managers, social workers, pharmacy, nurse techs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists to provide quality care for our patients. We have a good mix of experienced RNs that work alongside our education team to provide our new hires and grads with a great onboarding experience. For scheduling we currently have a six week rotating core so you are able to determine ahead of time when to schedule appointments, etc. to maintain a good work life balance .

Scope of work
Nurse Technicians act as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN).? Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.?
Cleans patient's environment / work area / equipment and communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel. Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior. Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data.
