POSITION DETAILS
The Human Biology Program seeks an administrative assistant to support the program's activities for this large student major.
The responsibilities include:
Serve as a first point of contact for students, faculty, staff and visitors, including walk-in, email and phone inquiries, providing information to students, staff and the College at large about the Human Biology Program;
Maintain an organized, neat and clean student-facing front office, support daily office workflow and administrative processes;
Support the Human Biology Director and advising staff by entering course permissions, reviewing student records, conducting outreach to student internship sites, scheduling appointments, collecting student information, and preparing related spreadsheets and reports;
Assist in course planning and scheduling for the major as well as coordinating events, meeting scheduling and room bookings;
Assist in purchasing and maintaining budgets, ordering supplies, reconcile purchases, assist with invoice and payment processing through various university systems;
Handle initial paperwork to onboard/reappoint adjunct staff, assist with the administrative tasks related to job searches, and adjunct hiring;
Assist with the organization, promotion, marketing and support of the administrative needs of program events (ongoing advising workshops, honors events, graduation, etc.);
Perform routine office related tasks such as gathering mail/packages, organizing files, record-keeping as needed, writing memos;
Serve as an administrative liaison between Human Biology and other departments and college offices as needed;
Conduct internet or database research to locate information related to program activities;
Post information, events and other activities of interest to the Human Biology List Serv, create posters and flyers for events, post events to departmental social media sites;
Other administrative tasks, as needed, to support the Director of Human Biology, Program faculty and staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree. Professional, detail-oriented and organized customer service professional that has strong written and verbal communication skills. Problem solving skills and positive attitude for a front-facing position in the main office. Ability to handle multiple priorities with a professional and positive demeanor. Competency in MS Office applications including Word and Excel.
Preferred: Prior experience of at least 6 months working in a university administrative position. Knowledge of the CUNY system.

Provides basic information, instructions, and materials as requested by students, faculty, and others who contact the department.
May supervise office staff and student workers.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Salary commensurate with education and experience. Commensurate with qualification and experience ($56,720-$63,003).
