Accounting Manager

West Metro, Twin Cities (on site position)

Salary: $105,000-$138,000

Position Summary

The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll-related activities. This individual will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, internal controls, compliance, and accounting process improvements. Our client is open to a Sr. Accountant who is ready for that next step, or someone with prior supervisory experience.

Key Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Financial Reporting

Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes.

Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other general ledger activity.

Assist with preparation and review of monthly financial statements and management reporting.

Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and communicate findings to leadership.

Monitor key financial estimates and accounting assumptions in partnership with operational leaders.

Internal Controls & Compliance

Develop, document, and maintain effective accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Evaluate business and operational changes to determine potential accounting implications.

Partner with various departments to ensure accounting processes remain accurate and effective.

Coordinate information and support for external audits and other financial reviews.

Assist with applicable federal, state, and local reporting and tax compliance requirements.

Accounting Operations

Oversee accounts payable processes, including coding, approvals, and payment activity.

Provide oversight of accounts receivable, billing, and collections processes.

Monitor working capital and cash flow-related activities.

Provide oversight and review of payroll accounting and related processes.

Ensure accounting transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.

Leadership & Process Improvement

Lead, mentor, and develop members of the accounting team.

Establish priorities and ensure accounting deadlines are consistently met.

Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve controls, and increase efficiency.

Support accounting system and ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and process improvements.

Participate in special projects and financial analyses as requested by senior leadership.

Requirements

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5+ years of progressive accounting experience.

Previous supervisory, management, or team leadership experience.

Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial accounting principles.

Experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Experience working with an ERP or integrated accounting system.

Strong Microsoft Excel skills.

Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to communicate financial information effectively with both accounting and non-financial professionals.

CPA or CMA is preferred but not required.
