Description We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a finance team, supporting accurate reporting and informed decision-making through detailed financial analysis. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for an accounting specialist who enjoys hands-on work across monthly close activities, account review, and statement preparation. The role offers the opportunity to contribute meaningful insight by examining performance trends, resolving discrepancies, and helping maintain strong financial processes.

Responsibilities:

Contribute to the monthly closing cycle by preparing journal entries, completing reconciliations, and assisting with timely financial reporting.

Examine monthly financial results for accuracy and completeness, ensuring reports reflect current activity and proper accounting treatment.

Evaluate financial performance through variance reviews, trend assessments, and comparisons between budgeted and actual results.

Monitor general ledger transactions, research irregularities, and follow through on items that require correction or clarification.

Reconcile balance sheet and other key accounts while maintaining organized and reliable supporting documentation.

Work closely with operational and leadership teams to explain financial outcomes and provide practical recommendations based on findings.

Strengthen accounting workflows by supporting consistent procedures and effective internal controls.

Use QuickBooks to manage day-to-day accounting tasks and generate reporting needed for analysis and close activities.

Leverage Excel tools such as PivotTables and VLOOKUPs to sort, analyze, and present financial information in a clear format. Requirements - At least 5 years of accounting experience, including substantial exposure to financial review and month-end close responsibilities.

Strong knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, reconciliations, and core accounting principles.

Demonstrated ability to analyze financial statements and identify trends, variances, and unusual account activity.

Proficiency with QuickBooks for accounting operations and reporting.

Advanced Excel capability, including practical use of PivotTables and VLOOKUPs.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred.

Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently, stay organized, and communicate financial findings clearly to management.
