Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
Join a fast-paced unmanned maritime systems team that focuses on transitioning advanced products from engineering into production. In this role, you act as a critical bridge between Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure products are buildable, supportable, and operate as intended. You will lead mechanical design efforts, support the full product lifecycle, and deliver robust solutions for integration into autonomous maritime and oceanography systems.
Responsibilities
Support manufacturing and production teams with day-to-day product troubleshooting and resolution of mechanical issues.
Perform root cause analysis on mechanical assembly, integration, and performance issues to identify and correct underlying problems.
Create, update, and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and engineering change documentation to support consistent production.
Review and scrub bills of material (BOMs) for accuracy, completeness, and configuration control.
Support product testing activities, including test setup, execution, and documentation, and participate in failure investigations.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on product performance, manufacturability, and reliability.
Execute light mechanical design work and drawing updates using SolidWorks, ensuring designs are clear, accurate, and production-ready.
Apply principles and techniques of mechanical engineering to research, develop, design, and test verified design solutions.
Lead and support system and subsystem designs for integration into autonomous maritime systems, including military and commercially available oceanography products.
Complete product lifecycle analysis and develop technical data packages for new and existing designs.
Work within a cross-functional design team to bring designs through first article build, testing, integration, and delivery to manufacturing.
Provide engineering support throughout all design phases, collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product performance, manufacturability, and supportability across the product lifecycle.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Experience supporting manufacturing, production, or product engineering environments.
Proficiency with SolidWorks for mechanical design and drawing updates.
Strong troubleshooting skills with a hands-on approach to mechanical problem solving.
Experience creating and maintaining engineering documentation, including work instructions and engineering change documentation.
Familiarity with BOM management and configuration control.
Ability to support testing activities and participate in failure investigations.
Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, including design, analysis, and verification.
Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and production teams.
Experience with process improvement in a mechanical or manufacturing @context.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with engineering change processes and documentation workflows.
Experience with testing of mechanical systems and subsystems.
Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Exposure to unmanned systems, autonomous systems, or oceanography-related products.
Experience developing technical data packages and supporting full product lifecycle activities.
Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) for mechanical drawings.
Experience in mechanical integration and performance analysis.
Experience working in cross-functional design teams from concept through production.
Work Environment
This role is based onsite in Pocasset, MA, working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and production teams in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. You will work directly with unmanned maritime and autonomous systems, supporting the transition of designs into production and engaging in testing, integration, and troubleshooting activities on the shop floor and in lab settings. The environment emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, and practical problem solving, with regular interaction across design, quality, supply chain, and production functions.

This is a Contract position based out of Pocasset, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.50 - $64.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
