Summary About the Position: Serves as the Director of Operations for the Army Corrections Command (ACC) responsible for planning, coordination and integration of corrections operations, plans, training, and compliance programs across multiple correctional and detention facilities with the Army Corrections System (ACS), including maximum-security, regional and selected overseas confinement operations. Responsibilities Serve as the senior operations staff officer responsible for planning, coordinating, and integrating corrections operations, plans, and training programs across the Army Corrections System (ACS). Develop operational plans, analyses, estimates, technical data, and recommendations used by senior leadership to establish priorities, allocate corrections resources, and support command decision-making. Plan and schedule operational activities; determines operational methodologies, work procedures, and priorities to accomplish command objectives; and adjusts operational priorities and resources. Monitor operational performance and identify issues affecting confinement operations, providing recommendations to improve efficiency, security, and mission effectiveness. Plan and schedule work; assign and review work; evaluate employee performance; provide technical and administrative guidance; and resolve employee issues and complaints. Medical Requirements The following requirements apply to employees occupying positions covered by 0006 series standard, as well as to applicants for such positions. Applicants and employees must be physically and mentally able to perform efficiently the essential functions of the position without hazard to themselves or others. Experience: Experience must be directly related to include substantial involvement with a correctional program and provides a thorough knowledge of correctional techniques, or experience in meeting and dealing with people and demonstrates the ability to work effectively with prisoners and associates in a correctional environment. The experience must also demonstrate the ability to perform supervisory or administrative duties successfully. This includes (1) understanding the problems of custody, treatment, training, and release of prisoners of penal or correctional institutions; (2) a thorough and comprehensive knowledge of an institution's internal policies, programs, regulations, and procedures; and (3) training subordinates, coordinating and directing activities and functions, evaluating performance of operations and the effectiveness of programs, and maintaining high standards or work objectives. This experience must have been gained in an administrative position, or in other positions that included the successful direction, or assistance in the direction of, an entire correctional program or a major phase of such a program. Required qualifying specialized experience includes: (1) Assisting with providing analysis and recommendations on correctional policies and guidance materials to ensure high quality standards are maintained and (2) Conducting planning and operational support for corrections operations for long-term incarceration and execution of prisoners.
