Responsibilities Responsible for managing multiple Federal Prison Industries operation at various Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facilities. Integrates the functional areas of Federal Prison Industries (FPI) as they relate to a specific product(S) UNICOR products and their customers. Manages the planning, administration, supervision, review and evaluation of an extremely varied combination of performance objectives to meet the customers' requirement. Plans for and establishes policies for developing and follow-through of all requirements whether self-generated or directed by FPI to meet customer requirements. Evaluates the success of all aspects of tasks. Serves as the sole contact between the customer and all Functional Management components within FPI. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and is performed on a regular and recurring basis. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience developing and implementing functional area project teams to foster a product through the manufacturing process. Experience in providing technical, developmental, and operational manufacturing systems and the promotion and implementation of competitive technologies to achieve efficient and quality delivery of customer products. Additional Information Special Conditions of Employment Section: Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probationary period. The incumbent is subject to geographic relocation to meet the needs of the agency. Appointment is subject to satisfactory completion of a physical, and background investigation. This is a secondary/non-law enforcement coverage position. Employees who have not yet completed ICT Phase I and II will be required to do so after entering the position. This requirement does not apply to non-law-enforcement positions. Eligibility for secondary law enforcement coverage is determined in accordance with applicable regulations. Coverage may be attained through any qualifying federal law enforcement officer service that meets the definitions in 5 U.S.C. 8401(17) and satisfies the conditions in 5 CFR 842.803.
