Job Title: General Production Material Handler
Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic manufacturing environment, supporting the production of building products from setup through transport within the plant. You will handle materials, work around machinery and tools, and receive training on various production processes with a clear path toward machine operation and broader responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Set up building products to be manufactured according to established production procedures and quality standards.
Transport materials and finished products throughout the plant using appropriate tools and equipment.
Provide general production support, including basic tooling tasks and assisting machine operators as needed.
Use hand tools and a tape measure accurately to prepare, measure, and verify materials for production.
Work safely and confidently around manufacturing machinery, tools, and overhead cranes used to move glass.
Lift and move materials weighing 75 pounds or more as part of daily production activities.
Stand and remain active on the production floor for 10-12 hour shifts while maintaining focus and productivity.
Follow all safety guidelines, including proper use of PPE such as hardhat, arm sleeves, eye protection, and gloves.
Participate in cross-training on various production processes to build skills and prepare for machine operation roles.
Maintain a clean and organized work area within the manufacturing environment to support efficiency and safety.
Essential Skills
Prior manufacturing experience.
Ability to lift 75 pounds or more safely and repeatedly.
Ability to stand for 10-12 hour shifts on a regular basis.
Comfort working around manufacturing machinery, tools, and overhead cranes.
Basic proficiency using hand tools in a production setting.
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure.
Willingness to learn new production processes and take on additional responsibilities.
Strong work ethic and reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in general labor or production support roles.
Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly with building products, is a plus.
Interest in growing within a manufacturing career path, including progression to machine operation.
Ability to work day or night shifts, including built-in overtime as needed.
Comfort working with large materials such as glass using overhead cranes.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, well-lit, and large manufacturing facility designed for efficient and safe production. You will work on either a day shift (6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with a 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. schedule on Fridays) or a night shift (4:00 p.m. to 2:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday), with built-in overtime. The environment includes several overhead cranes to move glass and other materials, and all necessary personal protective equipment is provided, including hardhat, arm sleeves, safety glasses, and gloves. You will spend most of your time on your feet in a busy production area surrounded by manufacturing machinery and tools, working within established safety and operational procedures.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Westbrook, ME.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
