Job Description
General Purpose:
SEMO Tank (owned by Dairy Farmers of America) sells, leases, and repairs tank trailers and offers a vast inventory of related parts for resale. The accountant shall achieve and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure to complete accurate and timely reporting of the monthly financial statements. The accountant shall also use strong attention to detail, communication skills, and understanding of GAAP requirements relating to leases to prepare new lease contracts for customers. This role will perform budget and expense allocation processes, work with management to establish and maintain company metrics, and ensure accurate recording of company capital expenditure and fixed asset activity.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the preparation and analysis of the monthly financials, including drafting internal financial statements, preparing account reconciliations, and recording journal entries to adjust and reclass accounting activity as required
Prepare lease contracts for tank-trailer customers, using strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills to ensure contract preparation is timely and accurate
Assist SEMO management in the fixed asset procurement process
Update and maintain SEMO fixed assets documentation and reporting in accordance with company policy
Collaborate with SEMO inventory personnel to enter cycle counts, record inventory adjustments, and generate reporting relating to inventory activity
Assist in preparing the annual budget and monthly budget versus actual analysis
Assist with the expense allocation process at both the location and departmental level
Create, modify, and maintain company metrics for timely distribution to management for review and analysis
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment

Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience required
7+ years of progressive accounting experience preferred
Certification and/or License - N/A
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
Proficient with SAP or similar ERP systems. Experience with SAP is highly preferred
Able to efficiently prioritize, plan, and organize workload
Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
Able to monitor own work to ensure quality
Able to demonstrate a friendly and professional demeanor while interacting with customers, vendors, and other personnel
Able to read, write, and speak English
