Job Title: Contract Manufacturing Buyer
Job Description
This role sits within a dynamic purchasing department and works closely with asset managers (material planners) and the program management team to execute a high volume of accurate purchasing transactions. You will manage end-to-end procurement activities, stay aligned with material demands through various business systems and processes, and consistently meet individual and team KPIs. The commodities you may procure include printed circuit boards, cable assemblies and harnesses, electronic components, custom and catalog assemblies, and sheet metal or machined parts.
Responsibilities
Deliver a high volume of accurate purchasing transactions on a daily basis while maintaining high performance standards.
Proactively and assertively negotiate with suppliers on commodities, pricing, and shipping terms to minimize excess cost and purchase price variance.
Stay current on changes related to assigned commodities or desk and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
Manage past-due deliveries, pull-ins, push-outs, and cancellations on a daily basis to support production and customer commitments.
Identify high-risk parts and escalate issues to leadership in a timely manner.
Execute MRP-driven actions in alignment with established purchasing policies and procedures.
Quickly resolve nonconforming material issues by collaborating with suppliers, customers, and internal Quality and Engineering teams.
Work with Accounting to investigate and resolve invoice, price, and quantity discrepancies.
Reconcile open order reports to ensure accuracy of purchase order data and delivery commitments.
Maintain accurate system information, including material lead times and other key purchasing parameters.
Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) as required to support new and existing programs.
Support assigned programs in collaboration with Planning, Strategic Supply Chain, and Supplier Quality teams.
Send automated requirements weekly to relevant target suppliers and follow up as needed.
Follow through on all purchasing-related workflows and metrics, ensuring actions are completed and documented.
Review excess material on a monthly basis and determine appropriate disposition.
Action nonconforming material through the MRB (Material Review Board) process on a weekly basis.
Essential Skills
At least 5 years of successful direct procurement experience in a fast-paced electronics contract manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively and accurately under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
Strong hands-on experience performing purchasing tasks within ERP/MRP systems such as Manex and Spotlight.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting, analysis, and communication.
Proven negotiation experience with a supply base, with the confidence to negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with professional, thorough, accurate, and timely correspondence.

Strong task prioritization skills to ensure critical activities are completed first while maintaining progress on all other responsibilities.

Comfort with data-driven decision making using reports, metrics, and purchasing workflows.
Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate purchasing and system records.
Work Environment
This is an onsite role in a fast-paced electronics manufacturing environment, working closely with Purchasing, Asset Management, Program Management, Quality, Engineering, Accounting, and Supply Chain teams. You will use ERP/MRP systems such as Manex and Spotlight, along with Microsoft Office applications, on a daily basis. The environment is metrics-driven and deadline-focused, requiring consistent coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders to support production schedules and customer requirements. Standard professional office and manufacturing-area attire is expected, with regular interaction between office and production floor settings.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
