Job Title: Operations Manager
Job Description
The Operations Manager oversees a large office supporting multiple environmental service lines, or several smaller offices with combined booked labor revenues typically exceeding $15 million. This role provides strategic leadership and coordination for regional environmental operations, ensuring consistent quality, operational excellence, and business development across offices. The Operations Manager drives growth, manages financial performance, and leads a diverse team of department managers and technical staff while strengthening client relationships and advancing the organization's environmental services in the region.
Responsibilities
Provide leadership and coordination for regional environmental service lines to ensure alignment in operations, quality standards, and business development initiatives across offices.
Partner with regional leadership to drive growth, promote resource sharing, and ensure operational consistency across environmental teams.
Oversee assignment of personnel to technical projects, ensuring optimal utilization of staff in collaboration with technical experts and the Director of Regional Operations.
Direct the execution of office and regional business development efforts to strengthen client relationships and expand market presence.
Oversee preparation of proposals and coordinate with corporate marketing and technical experts to develop compelling, compliant submissions.
Develop and mentor Department Managers, guiding staffing strategies, succession planning, and leadership development.
Develop and execute the annual office business plan and contribute to regional environmental strategy and expansion efforts.
Prepare, manage, and monitor office financial budgets to ensure operations remain within approved financial targets.
Monitor job status reports and coordinate with Department Managers to ensure project performance, schedule adherence, and quality delivery.
Provide regular updates to the Director of Regional Operations on office and regional performance, including financial results, staffing levels, and growth initiatives.
Support the execution of the strategic plan and drive office and regional growth in alignment with organizational objectives.
Manage project-related risk by ensuring contracts are fully executed prior to work and enforcing corporate risk management policies.
Promote and enforce safety initiatives, holding teams accountable to established safety standards and practices.
Ensure continuous quality improvement and adherence to best practices across all projects and service lines.
Oversee the full employee lifecycle, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, performance management, compensation, and professional development.
Cultivate strong client relationships through responsive communication, reliable delivery, and proactive problem-solving.
Support environmental consulting efforts, including site assessments, environmental compliance, and remediation-related activities, as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned to support office and regional operational success.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree and 10 years of practice experience, or 14 years of related experience in lieu of a degree.
Demonstrated leadership experience in environmental consulting or multi-disciplinary operations.
Strong business development skills with the ability to build, maintain, and grow client relationships.
Proven ability to manage profit and loss (P&L) and drive financial performance for an office or region.
Experience managing or coordinating environmental service lines such as site assessments, environmental consulting, environmental compliance, and remediation.
Experience leading teams across multiple service lines or locations (preferred).
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate, mentor, and develop managers and staff.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, staff, and senior leadership.
Excellent organizational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable violation history.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in regional operations leadership within environmental services or related industries.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing office or regional business plans.
Background in coordinating proposal preparation with marketing and technical teams.
Familiarity with corporate risk management policies and contract execution requirements.
Experience promoting and enforcing safety programs within an operational environment.
Track record of implementing continuous quality improvement and best practices across projects.
Ability to foster collaboration and resource sharing across teams and locations.
Comfort working in a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for both local office performance and regional environmental operations.

Work Environment
The Operations Manager role is primarily based in and around the Little Rock area, with most work occurring in an office environment that supports regional environmental operations. Travel is minimal and primarily regional, focused on visiting offices, project sites, and regional partners as needed. There may be occasional travel to the corporate office in Kansas City, typically no more than once per year. The position involves regular collaboration with department managers, technical staff, and regional leadership, utilizing standard office technologies and communication tools to manage operations, financial performance, and business development activities. This is a Permanent position based out of Little Rock, AR.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
