Job Title: Material Handler / Side Loader Operator Job Description
The Material Handler / Side Loader Operator safely operates a 30,000-lb capacity side loader and sit-down forklift to move, stage, and load metal materials throughout a steel manufacturing facility. This role supports production by ensuring efficient material flow, accurately staging materials for machines, and maintaining a strong focus on safety in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
Responsibilities
Operate a 30,000-lb capacity side loader to transport small and large metal materials throughout the facility.
Use a sit-down forklift to move, load, and unload materials as needed to support production.
Stage raw materials and finished products at designated locations to ensure efficient material flow.
Load machines with the correct metal materials according to production requirements.
Measure materials accurately using a tape measure to verify size, length, and specifications.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating equipment and working around heavy metals.
Maintain a clean and organized work area in the warehouse and production zones.
Communicate clearly with production and warehouse teams to coordinate material movement and priorities.
Inspect equipment before use and report any safety concerns or mechanical issues promptly.
Work effectively in a fast-paced metal manufacturing environment while handling large and heavy materials.
Essential Skills
Proven experience working in a warehouse environment.
Hands-on experience operating a sit-down forklift.
Strong commitment to safety and safe work practices.
Ability to operate a side loader or willingness to learn side loader operation.
Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for material measurements.
Comfort working around large pieces of steel, metal, copper, and brass.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment
This role is based in a steel manufacturing facility where you will work around large pieces of steel, metal, copper, and brass. The environment is non-climate controlled, so temperatures will vary with the seasons. The position operates on a first-shift schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., supporting production in a busy, hands-on industrial setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
