This role focuses on performing non-destructive testing (NDT) inspections to ensure the quality and safety of electric vehicle components and materials. As an Engineering Technician specializing in crack detection, you will use advanced inspection techniques to identify defects, support cross-functional teams, and uphold rigorous quality and safety standards in a fast-paced, sustainable energy environment.
Responsibilities
Perform non-destructive testing inspections, primarily using dye penetrant testing (PT), to detect and evaluate cracks and other defects in materials and components.
Prepare test specimens, equipment, and materials for inspection according to established procedures and standards, ensuring full compliance with quality and safety protocols.
Interpret and evaluate test results to determine the presence, location, size, and nature of defects, and document findings accurately and comprehensively in inspection reports.
Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to coordinate inspection activities and ensure effective communication of findings and recommendations.
Maintain NDT equipment, tools, and related instruments in good working condition, promptly reporting and addressing any issues or malfunctions to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.
Follow all safety protocols and procedures at all times, prioritizing the safety of yourself and others in the work environment.
Support continuous improvement efforts by providing feedback on inspection processes, procedures, and standards to enhance quality and reliability.
Handle automotive components and systems in a hands-on capacity, ensuring proper preparation, handling, and post-inspection processing.
Essential Skills
Proven experience performing non-destructive testing inspections with a strong focus on crack detection for components and materials, ideally within automotive or electric vehicle environments.
Proficiency in one or more NDT techniques, such as dye penetrant testing (PT), magnetic particle testing (MT), eddy current testing (ET), or ultrasonic testing (UT).
Strong hands-on technical skills working with automotive components and systems as a technician.
Ability to accurately interpret and evaluate test results, with a meticulous attention to detail and a strong focus on quality and safety.
Familiarity with relevant industry standards and specifications, such as ASNT, ASTM, and API, and the ability to apply them in daily inspection work.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating reliability, accountability, and adherence to safety protocols and procedures.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Technical training or certification in non-destructive testing (e.g., ASNT, API) is highly preferred.
Experience in automotive or electric vehicle manufacturing environments is beneficial.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to produce clear, detailed inspection reports.
Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with NDT techniques, tools, and standards.

This position operates in a fast-paced, dynamic environment focused on electric vehicles, renewable energy systems, and energy storage products. You will work hands-on with automotive components and NDT equipment, following established quality and safety protocols. The role involves close collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams, with a strong emphasis on safe work practices and maintaining equipment in optimal condition.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $35.00/hr.
