Lead Packaging Operator

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

High school Diploma or GED required.

Previous experience working as a packaging machine operator, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

Working knowledge of food production principles

Excellent communication skills

Ability to multi-tasks

Strong organizational skills

Ability to work various shifts to meet the needs of the business

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Substitute when Packaging Operator Manager/Supervisor is absent.

Follow and lead quality related functions within the department

Able to cover all positions within the department when/where needed

Being fully versed and trained in all aspects of department

Answer any/all questions/issues/delays related to department

Capability to motivate and lead team.

Verbally communicates with the previous operator regarding prior shift's activities

Responsible for start-up, including checking silos, shakers, and metal detectors

Performs changes in format for machines

Ensures the code date is correct on pasta products; glue pot has correct temperature and is full. Take carton tare weights.

Drives forklift (as needed) in a safe and efficient manner.

Weigh and/or manage and transports cartons, cardboard and film waste to the respective container as well as the garbage of the shift.

Meets the requirements of HACCP, BRC, and FSMA

Completes quality checks on glue seals and line, product dates, metal detector to ensure quality assurance in represented.

Responsible for food safety, food quality and food defense

Practices safe and secure environment, reporting to a supervisor any observed issues
