The Packer/Stacker/Sorter is responsible for ensuring that finished products are packaged correctly off the packing lines into specified corrugate materials. This involves staging corrugate, stacking, and shrink wrapping boxes on pallets as per company and customer specifications. Additionally, this role includes sorting out undesired products and foreign materials from the product stream.
Responsibilities
Adhere to all current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety requirements, and company policies.
Visually inspect product prior to packing for defects, quality issues, or foreign materials; discard unsatisfactory quality products.
Support packing machines and packers by delivering raw materials to the production line.
Hand stack finished cases according to customer specifications, verifying package and corrugate quality, including defects, date codes, case labels, pallet labels, pallet @type, and slip sheets.
Check metal detectors and hand pack bags of chips into boxes in a fast-paced environment under constant pressure of the production line.
Assemble boxes, apply stickers, and pack cases according to customer specifications while verifying package quality, including bag seals, defects, date codes, pricing information, package weight, and case labels.
Monitor seasoner and seasoning levels to ensure consistent application based on specifications.
Understand production schedule to set up packing machines and meet the designated production schedule.
Oversee the quality and food safety of finished material coming from the fry room and in preparation for shipping.
Ensure all waste from packing rooms and sorting areas is removed as needed throughout the day, and all waste containers and bins are emptied for the incoming shift.
Repack/rework products as necessary and handle rework products appropriately.
Document and log all required information accurately and timely.
Alert management of any problems found during packing/stacking/sorting inspections, monitor equipment, and report malfunctions to maintenance and management.
Use material handling equipment as necessary and trained, including stretch wrapper, pallet jack, forklift, and loader.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and environment, including equipment.
Clean and sanitize the plant and plant equipment, including packing machines, conveyors, hoppers, kettles, ceilings, walls, and floors.
Work as part of a team, giving lunches and breaks to others on the team.
Communicate effectively and efficiently with the rest of the team.
Perform other duties as assigned by Shift Supervisor, Plant Manager, or upper management.
Essential Skills
Experience in packing, stacking, and shrink wrapping.
Familiarity with GMP standards.
Proficiency in using material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.
Ability to work in a high-paced, wet, oily, and noisy environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in running machines and packing.
Hands-off training in material handling, unloading, order picking, shipping and receiving, and inventory.
Comfortable with palletizing and stacking.

Work Environment
The work environment frequently involves temperature changes, with occasional exposure to temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit and below 32 degrees Fahrenheit, depending on the season. The ambient noise level is continuously loud enough to require shouting, and work is conducted closely to moving parts. There is rare exposure to open electric currents and occasional work with chemicals.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
