General Production Worker
Job Description
This role focuses on heavy assembly work to build industrial ovens and microwaves from start to finish. You will perform wiring, electrical and mechanical tasks, plumbing, and other assembly activities across the production line. You will read and interpret blueprints and schematics to assemble complete units and gear boxes that drive the equipment.
Responsibilities
Assemble industrial ovens and microwaves from components to finished units using established procedures and quality standards.
Perform heavy assembly wiring, including routing, connecting, and securing electrical components and harnesses.
Carry out electrical and mechanical assembly work, ensuring all parts are correctly installed and functioning.
Complete plumbing-related tasks required for the proper operation of the industrial equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to guide the assembly of units and gear boxes.
Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to perform assembly, adjustment, and fastening tasks.
Support general production activities including general labor, shipping, receiving, and inspection as needed.
Operate forklifts to move materials, components, and finished products within the facility, when required and appropriately trained.
Assist with inventory management activities, including counting, tracking, and organizing materials.
Work within an ERP system to help track inventory, orders, or production-related information as directed.
Inspect assembled units and components to verify quality and proper operation before testing or shipment.
Collaborate with team members in both the production area and testing lab to ensure smooth workflow and on-time completion.
Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Adapt to changing production needs and contribute to continuous improvement of assembly processes.
Essential Skills
At least 1 year of experience in heavy assembly wiring.
At least 1 year of experience reading and working from blueprints.
Ability to read and interpret schematics for electrical and mechanical assemblies.
Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a production or assembly environment.
Experience with general production and general labor tasks.
Ability to perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing-related assembly work.
Capability to assemble gear boxes and other mechanical components with accuracy.
Basic understanding of shipping, receiving, and inspection processes.
Ability to operate or learn to operate forklifts in a safe manner.
Comfort using or learning ERP systems to support production and inventory activities.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
Ability to follow written instructions, diagrams, and technical documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in assembly environments involving industrial equipment or machinery.
Experience in inventory management, including tracking and organizing materials.
Familiarity with inspection processes for mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Experience working in both production and testing or lab environments.
Ability to multitask across assembly, shipping, receiving, and inspection duties.
Strong teamwork and communication skills in a production setting.
Willingness to work voluntary additional hours on Saturdays when needed.

Work Environment
The work takes place in a very clean, well-lit facility that includes both a production area and a dedicated lab for testing the machinery being built. You will work primarily Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with the option of voluntary additional hours on Saturdays from 8:00 AM to noon if production demand increases. The environment supports hands-on work with industrial ovens, microwaves, gear boxes, and related components, using hand and power tools, forklifts, and an ERP system to manage production and inventory. The setting is organized, safety-conscious, and designed to facilitate efficient assembly and testing of industrial equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of CEDAR RAPIDS, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
