CNC Machinist Responsibilities
As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for setting up, operating, and optimizing CNC machining processes while producing high-quality precision components to exact specifications.
Day-to-Day Duties
Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and/or Swiss machining centers
Perform tooling changes, offset adjustments, and machine troubleshooting
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions
Make minor program edits and adjustments at the machine
Conduct first-piece, in-process, and final inspections
Use precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, indicators, and gauges
Machine aluminum, steel, stainless steel, and specialty materials to tight tolerances
Run both short-run and high-volume production jobs
Complete production and quality documentation using electronic systems and tablets
Maintain quality, safety, and productivity standards
Collaborate with programmers, engineers, and quality teams to ensure successful production
Qualifications
Required
Minimum 1 year of CNC machining experience
Experience operating CNC mills, lathes, and/or Swiss machines
Ability to perform setups, tool changes, and offset adjustments
Experience using precision measuring instruments
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
Reliable attendance and commitment to quality workmanship
Preferred
Experience with Haas CNC machines
Multi-axis machining experience
Swiss machining experience
Experience in medical device, aerospace, or precision manufacturing environments
Knowledge of tight-tolerance machining and geometric tolerancing (GD&T)
