Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Olathe, Kansas. This role is ideal for someone who can manage a busy transaction environment while maintaining accuracy across financial records and reporting. The successful candidate will contribute to day-to-day accounting activities, strengthen receivables processes, and use advanced Excel skills to improve efficiency and visibility.

Responsibilities:

Prepare and record journal entries to ensure financial activity is captured accurately and on schedule.

Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, reconciling balances, and resolving discrepancies.

Oversee accounts receivable tasks, including invoice processing, payment tracking, and customer account follow-up.

Manage business-to-business collections by communicating with clients, addressing outstanding balances, and supporting timely cash receipt.

Handle a large volume of invoicing with close attention to detail, consistency, and turnaround time.

Use Microsoft Excel to organize financial data, build formulas, and produce reports that support accounting review.

Develop or apply VBA-based tools and spreadsheet enhancements to streamline repetitive accounting tasks.

Assist with month-end activities by preparing supporting schedules and ensuring accounting records are complete and accurate. Requirements - Experience working in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting position.

Strong working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and accounts receivable processes.

Background in B2B collections and managing customer payment follow-up professionally and effectively.

Ability to process high-volume invoicing accurately in a deadline-driven environment.

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, data analysis, and spreadsheet management.

Experience using Excel VBA to automate tasks or improve reporting workflows.

High level of accuracy, organization, and accountability when handling financial information.
