Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) Facilities and the Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. Responsibilities Install and test a variety of electrical lines and circuits to components and devices. Disassemble, repair, troubleshoot and/or replace wire mold, wires and electrical components and devices. Make operational test and adjustments as necessary. Perform testing on electrical wiring by utilizing tools such as test lamps, voltage testers, ammeters, etc. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. There is no specific length of training or experience required. However, you must be able to demonstrate, through experience shown in your written application materials that you possess the sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the work of this position without more than normal supervision. Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an ELECTRICAL WORKER ~ without more than normal supervision. 1) Installing and testing a variety of electrical lines and circuits to components and/or devices; AND 2) Disassembling, repairing, troubleshooting and/or replacing wire mold, wires and electrical components and devices. - Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. PHYSICAL EFFORT Work involves frequent standing, stooping, climbing, bending, and kneeling; and occasionally works in cramped and awkward positions. Required to lift and handle objects weighting up to 20 pounds; often lifts and moves heavier objects with the assistance of other workers, lifting devices, and aids such as movable tables or jacks; required to use ladders in the performance of duties. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is usually performed inside well lighted, adequately heated and ventilated areas. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather. Subject to cuts, bruises, scrapes, sprains and strains from handling tools and installing equipment. Subject to burns from hot components, soldering, and electrical shock. Required to wear safety clothing and equipment appropriate for the position. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. This position requires a 1 year probationary period during which the agency evaluates your fitness and whether your continued employment advances the public interest. In making this determination, the agency may consider your performance and conduct; agency needs and interests; whether your continued employment supports organizational or Government goals; and whether it promotes the efficiency of the Federal service. Continued employment requires written certification that it advances the public interest. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees. This is a Installation Services Career Field position. Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement. Salary includes applicable locality pay or Local Market Supplement. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the Government interest.
