THE POSITION
As an Administrative Assistant 1 with the Department of Labor & Industry, Bureau of Workers' Compensation, you will support a mission that makes a real difference across the Commonwealth. This position allows you to build strong communication skills while helping people resolve critical questions about workers compensation. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supports the Bureau of Workers' Compensation by guiding individuals through workers compensation concerns and ensuring accurate information is shared. The role contributes to smooth bureau operations and clear communication with the workers compensation community. As an Administrative Assistant 1, you will perform the following duties:
Call Management: Handle incoming and outgoing calls and provide helpful information to employees, employers, insurers, attorneys, doctors, and others involved in workers compensation matters
Issue Resolution: Assist in resolving problems, direct inquiries to the appropriate division, and provide information about laws and regulations
Data Analysis: Compile monthly statistics, review trends, and prepare written recommendations for improving bureau procedures and operations
Research Support: Research laws, cases, and published guidance to answer questions and prepare formal written reports on potential impacts to workers compensation policies
System Assistance: Guide users through WCAIS registration, log-in steps, dashboard navigation, and technical concerns

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. The expectation will be that employees will be on site two days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Such training as may have been gained through graduation from a four year college or university or any equivalent combination of experience and training.
