Summary You will serve as a Engineering Technician in the Target Systems Division of NAVAIRWARCENWPNDIV POINT MUGU. Responsibilities You will work direct a diversely skilled team on the shop floor to execute unprecedented, first-of-their-kind physical repairs on composite and metal airframes. You will troubleshoot and investigate critical, unresolved system failures on the flight line or in the shop, advising program leadership on necessary resource allocation and project direction. You will physically draft, test, and formally document brand-new maintenance standards and repair procedures when current engineering drawings are missing or inadequate. You will be directly involved in daily operations of laboratory, field, and flight testing programs, analyzing the physical test data to ensure the structural integrity of next-generation systems. You will act as a technical lead, providing direct, hands-on engineering guidance and technical oversight to advance the structural fabrication, quality assurance, and repair capabilities of government and contractor personnel. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next pay band (DT-03) or equivalent grade level in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience includes duties related to the following: 1) Demonstrating experience reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints and instructional manuals; 2) Demonstrating experience performing metal fabrication and repairs; such as, riveting and metal forming; 3) Demonstrating knowledge and application of aircraft composite repair techniques, including wet layup and vacuum bagging; 4) Demonstrating capacity to learn and apply new technical concepts with strong attention to detail.
