Job Title: Garnishment Specialist
Job Description
This role focuses on managing and processing employee garnishment orders accurately and in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. You will collaborate closely with payroll, accounting, and external stakeholders to ensure timely withholdings, proper documentation, and clear communication, while contributing to process improvements and a strong culture of trust and integrity.
Responsibilities
Review, interpret, and process garnishment orders, including wage attachments, bank levies, and other court-ordered financial obligations.
Calculate and set up accurate garnishment withholdings in the payroll system in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
Interact with creditors, attorneys, and employees to gather necessary documentation and clarify garnishment details.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies related to garnishment orders, payments, and employee records in a timely manner.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all garnishment activities to meet regulatory and audit requirements.
Prepare and provide reports on garnishment activities to internal stakeholders and external agencies as needed.
Collaborate with payroll and accounting teams to ensure timely and accurate processing of garnishment withholdings each pay cycle.
Monitor changes in garnishment laws and regulations and adjust processes to maintain ongoing compliance.
Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance in garnishment processing.
Support payroll team initiatives and assist with related tasks as needed to ensure smooth payroll operations.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with accounting and payroll processes, particularly related to garnishments.
Proficiency in processing garnishments, including wage attachments, bank levies, and other court-ordered deductions.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills for tracking, analyzing, and reporting garnishment data.
Ability to interpret legal and regulatory documents related to garnishments and apply them accurately.
High attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data and legal documentation.
Strong communication skills to interact effectively with creditors, attorneys, employees, and internal teams.
Ability to work collaboratively with payroll and accounting teams to meet deadlines and ensure accurate withholdings.
Solid organizational skills to manage multiple garnishment orders and maintain complete documentation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience using Vista ViewPoint for payroll or HR-related functions.
Experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) systems or similar payroll/HR platforms.
Background in a corporate payroll environment, particularly within a larger payroll team.
Demonstrated interest in staying current with changes in garnishment laws and regulations.
Track record of identifying and implementing process improvements in payroll or accounting operations.
Work Environment
You will join a dedicated garnishments team of three, becoming the fourth team member within a larger payroll department of approximately 40 professionals. The role operates in a corporate office environment that emphasizes trust, integrity, and ethical practices. You will work closely with the payroll manager and colleagues across payroll and accounting, gaining significant exposure to corporate-level operations. The position follows a schedule of four 10-hour workdays, providing a structured yet collaborative setting where professional growth, development, and career advancement are actively supported.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lewisville, TX 75067.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $27.00/hr.
