Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - MEP Design (All Experience Levels)
Job Description

Responsibilities
Design Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Fire Protection systems for regional projects in schools, healthcare facilities, business offices, and retail environments.
Develop detailed MEP system layouts and documentation using AutoCAD, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirements.
Collaborate closely with CAD operators to review, coordinate, and refine drawings, ensuring precision in designs and timely completion of deliverables.
Support and perform project management tasks, including planning, scheduling, coordination, and communication for small and medium-sized projects.
Work with other engineers and designers on multi-disciplinary project teams to integrate mechanical systems with overall building design.
Perform engineering design tasks on large and complex projects under the direction of a principal engineer, including coordination with other project personnel and disciplines.
Apply knowledge of building codes, standards, and building structures to ensure designs meet applicable regulations and industry best practices.
Design and coordinate HVAC systems, including chilled water and hot water systems, in alignment with project performance, comfort, and energy-efficiency goals.
Participate in the design and layout of fire protection and sprinkler systems as part of integrated MEP solutions.
Review and interpret redline markups, incorporating revisions accurately into design documents.
Coordinate MEP engineering activities with project stakeholders to support smooth project execution and resolve design issues.
Demonstrate a strong desire to understand, develop, and refine skills in MEP and Fire Protection system design across school, healthcare, business, and retail projects.
Utilize MS Office tools to support calculations, documentation, reporting, and communication related to engineering projects.
Communicate clearly and professionally with internal team members and external partners to ensure alignment on project scope, schedule, and deliverables.
Essential Skills
5-10+ years of design experience in the engineering field, preferably focused on building systems and MEP design.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Proven experience with MEP design projects, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems.
Proficiency in AutoCAD for building systems and MEP design.
Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including chilled water and hot water systems.
Understanding of building systems and building design principles.
Familiarity with building codes, standards, and building structures as they relate to MEP engineering.
Experience with project management and project coordination in an engineering or building design environment.
Proficiency with MS Office applications for engineering documentation and communication.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated mechanical engineering experience, with 5-10 years preferred in mechanical or MEP-focused roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.E.) credential is a strong plus, or readiness to sit for the P.E. exam.
Experience with Revit for MEP modeling and coordination.
Hands-on experience with fire protection and sprinkler system design.
Exposure to redline review processes and revising drawings based on markups.
Experience working within a multi-disciplinary building design team.
Interest in ongoing professional development in the building sciences and MEP/FP design.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced project environment.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing multiple projects or tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Middletown, NY.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $120000.00/hr.
