Job Title: 2nd Shift CNC Machinist
Job Description
The 2nd Shift CNC Machinist produces precision machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating CNC lathes and mills. This role maintains strict quality and safety standards, keeps accurate production records, and ensures equipment and supplies remain in optimal condition.
Responsibilities
Program CNC lathes and mills using G-code and M-code to produce precision components to specification.
Set up CNC lathes and mills, including tooling selection, workholding, and machine offsets, to ensure efficient and accurate machining operations.
Operate CNC horizontal lathes and milling machines throughout the shift to meet production schedules and quality requirements.
Inspect machined parts using calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensional accuracy.
Monitor machine performance and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality, productivity, and repeatability.
Maintain quality standards by following established procedures, documenting measurements, and completing required production records.
Adhere to safety protocols and best practices while working with CNC equipment and in the machining area.
Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on CNC machines to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
Maintain a clean, organized work area and ensure adequate supplies and tooling are available for continuous production.
Collaborate with team members and supervisors to resolve machining issues and optimize processes.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience as a CNC machinist working with lathes or mills.
Proficiency in operating CNC lathes, including horizontal lathes, in a production environment.
Ability to program CNC machines using G-code and M-code.
Experience setting up CNC lathes and mills, including tooling, fixturing, and machine offsets.
Strong understanding of CNC machining processes and techniques.
Ability to read and interpret measurements using calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges.
Knowledge of Fanuc controls and related CNC interfaces.
Commitment to maintaining quality and safety standards in a machining environment.
Ability to keep accurate records related to production, quality checks, and machine operation.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Lathe or mill CNC machinist in a climate-controlled production environment.
Familiarity with multiple CNC machines and working within a multi-machine cell.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on a set production schedule.
Willingness to work 2nd shift and maintain consistent attendance.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled machining facility that houses a couple dozen CNC machines, providing a modern and organized production setting. Work is performed on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, from 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. The environment emphasizes safety, precision, and cleanliness, with access to advanced CNC lathes and mills and standard precision measuring tools.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Gainesville, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
