Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a Senior Systems Engineer (contract). In this role, you will support and enhance enterprise infrastructure across cloud and on-premises environments. This role will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing infrastructure solutions with a primary focus on Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud technologies. This role is onsite in Austin, Tx.

Key Responsibilites:

Design, implement, and support Azure and hybrid cloud infrastructure. Lead cloud migration, modernization, and infrastructure improvement projects.

Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, and endpoint management tools.

Support virtualization, storage, backup, disaster recovery, and virtual desktop environments.

Monitor infrastructure performance, availability, and security.

Troubleshoot complex production issues and perform root-cause analysis.

Manage upgrades, patching, capacity planning, and lifecycle activities.

Collaborate with infrastructure, security, networking, and application teams.

Lead technical initiatives and mentor entry level engineers.

Maintain infrastructure documentation, standards, and procedures.

Support business continuity and disaster recovery planning. Coordinate with vendors and third-party technology partners.

Participate in an on-call rotation for critical systems support.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

7+ years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure environments. Extensive hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and hybrid cloud technologies.

Strong knowledge of cloud networking, virtual machines, storage, identity management, monitoring, security, and governance.

Experience administering Microsoft server technologies and enterprise directory services.

Strong background supporting virtualization platforms within large-scale environments. Experience with enterprise backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions.

Familiarity with virtual application and desktop delivery technologies. Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, including compute, storage, networking, virtualization, and cloud services.

Proven success leading infrastructure migrations, upgrades, and modernization initiatives. Advanced troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Experience operating within large, complex enterprise organizations. Ability to support after-hours and on-call operational requirements.

Willingness to travel occasionally as business needs require.

Preferred:

Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect, or Azure Security Engineer.

Industry certifications related to virtualization, networking, cloud infrastructure, or project management.

Experience supporting hybrid cloud architectures in multi-site or global environments.

Experience working in highly technical, regulated, or complex operational environments.

Demonstrated project leadership experience and the ability to drive technology initiatives from planning through implementation. Understanding of enterprise application architecture and cloud integration strategies.

Experience integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud-based and SaaS platforms.

Additional language skills or experience collaborating with international teams is a plus.
