Summary Laundry distribution positions involve primary skills of loading, unloading, and preparing for transporting of linen to medical center at Alexandria VA and outside clients; Fort Polk Bayne Jones Army Hospital, Shreveport VA Medical Center, Camp Beauregard National Guard Training Center, and Camp Cook training center. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: This position loads, unloads, and maneuvers wheeled laundry carts weighing from 1-800 pounds, and must be able to lift linen bags weighing 1-75 lbs. Must be able to stand, bend, crouch, push, pull, and lift heavy items during loading and unloading of trucks; must work inside and outside; may be exposed to bad weather when loading and unloading; and may occasionally come in contact with infectious material or textiles and must wear personal protective equipment. Must be alert for potential safety hazards and equipment malfunctions and will report these to the Laundry Plant Manager or Laundry Supervisor; will exercise caution when working around slippery floors, surfaces pavement, loading and receiving docks; and must understand and be familiar with the use of materials and material data safety sheets.
