The Idaho Department of Labor, Disability Determinations Services located in Boise, has an exciting opportunity for multiple Disability Claims Adjudicator Trainee positions. These positions will be used for training purposes (underfill) for the Disability Claims Adjudicator position. Once various @types of on-the-job training have been completed at the trainee level within an expected timeframe, employees will then complete their underfill and be expected to increase production levels and progress towards learning to carry out the duties of the full working level Disability Claims Adjudicator. Minimum statistical performance standards exist at all levels in the areas of customer service, productivity, and quality. These positions require reading extensive medical records online and writing determinations. Good case management skills are needed to be successful in this position.

Example of Duties
The trainee position requires achieving competency in the following areas of adjudication:
Reviews initial and reconsideration disability claims in accordance with Social Security Administration (SSA) law, court orders, rulings, and regulations.
Develops claims by contacting the claimant, lay sources, medical sources and vocational sources in writing, in person, or by telephone.
Ascertains effects of physical and mental impairments and whether an impairment meets established criteria for disability.
Works in an electronic environment including reviewing imaged medical and other evidence on the computer and preparing documents and forms within an automated case processing system.
Prepares various statements and assessments for proper determinations.
Responds to legal and administrative issues raised by claimants, attorneys, and other representatives.
Prepares formal determination of eligibility based on SSA criteria.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Conducting and documenting in-depth fact-finding interviews.
Assisting difficult or confrontational individuals with physical and/or emotional impairments.
Interpreting, applying, and explaining laws, rules, and regulations.
Preparing written eligibility decisions
Operating a personal computer; managing multiple priorities or tasks.
Preferred Qualifications - These qualifications are not required, but applicants with this experience may receive consideration over other applicants (must be reflected in your resume).
Ability to speak Spanish and English fluently.
Medical experience or medical terminology knowledge.
