Work involves traveling to different locations to physically locate and verify equipment and property owned by the agency. Visually inspects assets, confirms asset numbers, and ensures inventory records are accurate and up to date. Documents discrepancies, reports missing assets, and helps departments stay compliant with inventory requirements. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.The following Military Occupational Specialty codes are generally applicable to this position.https://hr.sao.texas.gov/Compensation/MilitaryCrosswalk/MOSCPropertyManagementandProcurement.pdfApplicants must fully complete the summary of experience to determine if minimum qualifications are met.ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Plan and conduct physical inventory of Controlled and Capital assets, organize trips to meet Fiscal Year deadlines, and handle required regional travel.2. Reconcile inventory records per department, verify all assets are accounted for, and audit closeout packets for accuracy and completeness across assigned regions.3. Research the inventory database to locate unaccounted assets, identify/address inventory discrepancies, report missing assets, and recover missing assets that are located.4. Track and document incoming/outgoing inventory, maintain assigned regional assets, and request asset updates from the HQ Asset Management Office.5. Coordinate with Property Custodians to schedule annual inventories and provide training and guidance on inventory processes/procedures to customers.6. Compile and maintain clear and accurate inventory reports and documents.7. Track close out progress across the assigned region to ensure all departments meet established Fiscal Year deadlines.8. Update and maintain the inventory database, perform quality checks to ensure software records accurately reflect physical asset statuses.9. Provide inventory best practice training for property custodians individually and occasionally assist in larger training events for property custodians.10. Assist peer Regional Inventory Specialists (RIS).11. Attend work regularly and observe approved work hours in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.12. Perform other duties as assigned.GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS and REQUIREMENTS: Education - High School Diploma/equivalent required. Sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited college or university with Major or coursework emphasis in Business, Business Administration, Accounting, Logistics, or related field preferred. Experience - Minimum of two (2) years' experience in general office work, inventory control, bookkeeping, or accounting operations.Substitution Note: Additional work experience of the @type described or other related education may be substituted for one another on a year-for-year basis. Licensure and/or Certification - Driving is required, must possess a valid driver license from state of residence.Critical Organizational Infrastructure requirements - This job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure; must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role. Additionally, and more specifically, must not be employed by nor have any connection or continuous connections to any governmental entity or political apparatus of a country listed in 15 C.F.R. 791.4.Regulatory knowledge - Working knowledge of, or the ability to rapidly assimilate information related to TXDPS, State and Federal regulations, legislation, guidelines, policies and procedures. Technology - Proficiency with Microsoft Office and appropriate levels of proficiency with utilized software and systems (e.g. CAPPS, SharePoint) and be able to learn new software/systems. Interpersonal Skills - Must demonstrate an ability to exercise poise, tact, diplomacy and an ability to establish and maintain positive, working/professional relationships with internal/external customers.
