Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic
Job Description
This role focuses on performing corrective and preventive maintenance on extrusion machines in a plastic manufacturing environment. You will troubleshoot and repair a wide range of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operation of production equipment.
Responsibilities
Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on extrusion machines and related plastic converting equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent production quality.
Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment, including switches, relays, circuit breaker panels, motors, drives, gear boxes, rollers, and timing systems within the plastic extrusion and conversion process.
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues using a systematic approach to identify root causes and implement effective repairs.
Read and interpret blueprints and electrical and mechanical schematics to plan and execute maintenance and repair activities accurately.
Inspect equipment regularly to identify potential issues and perform preventive maintenance tasks according to established schedules and standards.
Adjust, align, and calibrate machinery components to ensure proper operation, including rollers, drives, and timing mechanisms.
Document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts usage to support accurate maintenance records and continuous improvement efforts.
Collaborate with production and other maintenance team members to prioritize work, support efficient changeovers, and resolve equipment-related issues promptly.
Follow established safety procedures and best practices while working on electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending enhancements to equipment reliability, maintenance practices, and production processes.
Essential Skills
At least 3 years of industrial maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Proven experience working as a maintenance mechanic or maintenance technician in a production setting.
Strong troubleshooting skills for manufacturing equipment, including switches, relays, circuit breaker panels, motors, drives, gear boxes, and rollers.
Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and repair of production machinery.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical and electrical schematics.
Solid understanding of hydraulics and pneumatic systems and their application in industrial equipment.
Mechanical aptitude with experience in assembling, disassembling, and repairing complex machinery.
Experience working with plastic manufacturing or extrusion processes.
Demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and timing issues on production equipment.
Commitment to working safely around mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience with blown film or plastic converting equipment is a strong plus.
plastics manufacturing or plastic extrusion and conversion environments.
Familiarity with maintenance best practices in high-volume manufacturing operations.
Ability to work effectively in a rotating shift schedule after an initial training period.
Strong communication skills to coordinate with production and maintenance teams.
Detail-oriented approach to documenting maintenance work and following established procedures.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $45.00/hr.
