Sr Manager, Mechanical Design & Structural Integrity
Curtiss-Wright is seeking an outstanding working manager who has passion and experience as a department manager in a matrix engineering organization.
Reporting to the Director of Engineering at CW Actuation Division you will provide providing management direction and oversight to the Mechanical Design & Structural Integrity engineering department within Curtiss-Wright's aerospace actuation group. Our customers are military and commercial aerospace OEM's looking for rotary and linear actuation solutions related to power transmission components, motor controllers, and power electronics to support our mechanical and electromechanical actuations solutions for flight controls, door drive systems, canopy actuation, and other needs.

YOUR CHALLENGE:
In this role, you will directly manage a team of approximately 10-12 team members responsible for the following areas of mechanical design engineering:
Conceptual Design, Gear Design, and Component/Assembly Modeling (CAD)
Design Calculations & Requirement Validation
Material Review Board (MRB) Evaluation, Disposition, and Substantiation of Non-Conformances
Structural Integrity Analyses (Stress, Thermal, Vibration, etc.)
Technical Documentation (Drawings, Reports, SDRL's) Supporting Work Outlined Above
WHAT YOU BRING:
A bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or equivalent) is required.
A master's degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or equivalent) is preferred.
15-20yrs of experience in managing complex mechanical component design and analysis (i.e., actuators, transmissions, power transmission systems, geared products, etc.) in aerospace, automotive, commercial vehicle, or industrial industries is required.
Demonstrated experience in managing an engineering department with solid line reporting.
Demonstrated experience leading communication with customers on technical topics, project progress, and issue resolution.
Demonstrated experience in bid & proposal creation (i.e., technical proposals, NRE estimates, etc.).
Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with leaders and individual contributors in Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality organizations.
Demonstrated experience using CAD / PLM systems (i.e., Siemens NX/Teamcenter or equivalent).
Demonstrated experience evaluation Ansys (or equivalent) results for component stress /thermal / vibration characteristics of actuators, transmissions, powertrain component, and associated hardware.
Demonstrated experience creating aerospace / automotive failure mode effects analyses (i.e., FMEA, FMECA, etc.).
Demonstrated experience allocating resources to project teams and tracking team members performance on project teams.
Demonstrated experience coaching root cause / corrective action initiatives via 8D, A4, 5-why, Ishikawa, or equivalent
A track record of delivering results on time and within budget.
A track record of creating and refining department governance and holding team members accountable to comply with department governance.
A track record of developing and maintaining key performance indicators for an engineering department to drive execution and results relentlessly.
A track record of developing technical talent, demonstrating servant leadership practices, and advocating for team members success.
A willingness to perform other duties as assigned.
