Job Description
The 2nd Shift Team Lead oversees production activities on the afternoon shift from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm, guiding a small team in cutting, packaging, and order preparation. This role combines hands-on operation of equipment with frontline supervision to ensure safe, efficient, and timely completion of customer orders. The Team Lead maintains organized work areas, supports continuous improvement, and helps standardize processes and cycle times.
Responsibilities
Lead and support team members performing water jet cutting, die cutting, over bagging, packaging, and order preparation.
Organize and maintain clean, safe, and efficient work areas throughout the shift.
Operate post-process equipment and assist in establishing standard work instructions and cycle times.
Ensure production schedules are followed and customer order commitments are consistently met.
Help track and communicate key production metrics, such as on-time delivery and scrap rates, to the team and leadership.
Train new and current employees on production processes, equipment operation, and safety practices.
Collaborate with Maintenance to keep all production equipment properly serviced and running reliably.
Maintain accurate inventory of blanks and packaging materials to support uninterrupted production.
Assist with creating customer samples to support new or existing product requirements.
Support other manufacturing areas as needed to meet overall production goals.
Essential Skills
At least 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Minimum of 2 years of experience operating CNC machines.
At least 1 year of experience operating a forklift or hilo.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds frequently.
Hands-on experience with production processes such as cutting metal, water jet cutting, and die cutting.
Demonstrated ability to supervise, guide, and support production team members.
Capability to follow production schedules and meet customer order commitments.
Strong focus on safety, organization, and efficiency in a production environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience operating or supporting CNC machinery in a high-mix or high-volume production setting.
Experience in tracking and communicating production metrics such as on-time delivery and scrap.
Experience training new employees on manufacturing processes and equipment.
Familiarity with inventory control for blanks, packaging, and related production materials.
Comfort working with forklifts and other material-handling equipment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with maintenance teams to address equipment issues.
Strong communication skills to coordinate tasks and provide clear direction to team members.
Attention to detail when creating customer samples and preparing orders.

Work Environment
The role is based in a manufacturing facility on the 2nd shift, running from 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm. You will work around CNC machines, water jet cutting equipment, die cutting stations, and packaging areas, handling metal cutting and related production tasks. The environment can be dusty due to paper particles in the air, though the dust does not adhere to clothing or surfaces like grease. You will regularly use forklifts or hilos and other material-handling equipment, and the work involves frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The setting emphasizes safe, organized, and efficient operations while supporting multiple manufacturing areas as needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45760.00 - $45760.00/yr.
They are eligible for benefits after the first 30 days on assignment. They also have sick pay which is accrued and up to 72 hours per year. As well as additional PTO and holidays. Full benefit package offered.
