The Construction Superintendent oversees onsite field operations and leads projects from mobilization through successful completion. This role focuses on managing daily construction activities, coordinating subcontractors and vendors, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety standards, and ensuring high-quality work that meets client expectations. The position offers the opportunity to work on diverse projects across Connecticut, including commercial, healthcare, institutional, municipal, housing, and public construction, with clear potential to grow into senior leadership within a stable, expanding organization.
Responsibilities
Manage daily construction activities and oversee all field operations for ground-up and renovation projects.
Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project plans.
Maintain and execute project schedules, including look-ahead schedules, to ensure work is completed according to plans and specifications.
Enforce jobsite safety standards and ensure full compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
Monitor quality control throughout the project and ensure all work meets company standards and client expectations.
Review and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents to guide field operations.
Assist with project budgeting, cost control, and expense tracking, supporting accurate financial reporting.
Maintain accurate project documentation, including daily reports, logs, and field records.
Identify project risks and issues early, develop proactive solutions, and communicate them clearly to stakeholders.
Collaborate closely with project managers, owners, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to keep projects on track.
Lead onsite teams with professionalism, accountability, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and schedule.
Support the successful completion of projects on schedule and within budget, including projects greater than $5 million in value.
Essential Skills
At least 7 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent in commercial, healthcare, institutional, municipal, multifamily, housing, or public construction.
Proven track record managing field operations for both ground-up and renovation projects.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, building systems, and subcontractor coordination.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents with a high degree of accuracy.
OSHA 30 Certification.
Proficiency with construction management software, including Procore, and standard computer applications.
Experience creating and managing schedule look-aheads and maintaining overall project timelines.
Demonstrated expertise in subcontractor management and onsite safety oversight.
Excellent leadership skills with the ability to direct and motivate field teams.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective coordination with project stakeholders.
Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documentation, and priorities on active jobsites.
Proactive, solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience overseeing projects with budgets greater than $5 million.
Background in healthcare, institutional, municipal, housing, or public construction projects.
Experience tracking project expenses and supporting project-level financial reporting.
Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple concurrent priorities.

Work Environment
This is an onsite field-based role with project work located across Connecticut, within a portfolio that spans from Greenwich to Tolland. Project assignments are typically within an approximate one-hour commute of the superintendent's home base. The environment is dynamic and fast-paced, centered on active construction sites where collaboration with project managers, trade partners, and design professionals is routine.
